I Am American

When I was in junior high school my classmates were talking about what they were. “I am Italian” or “I am German.” When it was my turn I said “I am American.” When I was pregnant with my second son, the doctor asked me “What are you?” I said “I am American.” He said “No, what are you?” And I said “a Caucasian American”.

What am I supposed to say? I don’t have grandparents that are Holocaust survivors. Or grandparents that immigrated from here or there. Nine generations of my family have been born in the United States. I am American. At what point do we drop the titles. If one of my great-great-great grandparents was black, am I African-American? If one of my great grandparents was Italian and one black, am I African-Italian-American? If 10 generations back my family came from England, am I European-American? If one of my great grandparents was black and one of my great-great-great grandparents was an Indian and one of my great-great grandparents was Italian, am I African-Native-Italian-American? All these titles are ridicules. My family has been living in the United States for over 150 years. I am American.

But I don’t believe I am any more American than the Holocaust survivors or the other Americans that have immigrated from here or there. It’s just that I believe my heritage is American. I have a great deal of respect for those that have decided to give up their homes, family and friends to come to the United States. If anything they have a real appreciation of what it means to be American. But I am proud that my ancestors helped shaped this country. I am proud my ancestors paved the way for others to immigrate from here or there. I am proud my ancestors helped liberate the Holocaust survivors so they too could immigrate to the United States. I am proud to be American.

Are You Kidding Me?!?!?!?

The United States imports 65% of its energy. The deficit is out of control. There is turmoil in Egypt. The economy is in shambles. And our President wants to spend $3 billion to make sure all Americans have internet service!!! Are you kidding me?!?!?! Then what, spend billions more to make sure all Americans have computers and providers to use the internet!!! Spend, spend and spend some more.

This President is unbelievable. And once again he has proven he doesn’t have a clue as to what Americans want. We want jobs. We want our borders to be secure. We want to be energy independent. We want a balanced budget. And we want the spending to stop!!! But our President wants to spend $3 billion on the internet.

The Republican Congress is trying to regain control of our budget and deficit. Not our President. He wants to spend $3 billion on the internet. Unemployment is at 9%. Oil and gas prices are increasing. And the President is going to spend $3 billion on the internet. Not only is this President wasting $3 billion, is this the start to the government taking over the internet?

The President claims the $3 billion for the internet is an “investment” in America. He claims jobs will be created. Wouldn’t a better investment for America be to open up drilling and to build nuclear power plants as well as developing clean energy? Private jobs would be created, our economy would recover and it wouldn’t cost the American people $3 billion.

Here We Go Again

When will we learn? The warnings are there. We must end our dependency on foreign oil. There is no reason whatsoever why the United States must import 65% of its energy. No reason except for liberalism. There are oil, natural gas and coal deposits all over the United States. We should use nuclear energy while developing clean energy. But no, we import 65% of our energy. That’s right – 65%.

Americans need to understand why it is so dangerous to depend on foreign oil. Our National Security and economy are at severe risk because of the energy policy of the United States. On December 7, 1941, Japan attacked Pearl Harbor because the United States placed an oil embargo on Japan. In the 1970’s OPEC placed an oil embargo on the United States which caused long lines and high gas prices.

The energy policy as outlined by President Obama during his State of the Union address is a joke. He is doing nothing to address the immediate energy needs of this country. The short-term emphasis must be on energy independence while focusing on a long-term goal of reducing our dependency on oil.

On May 25, 1961 during a Joint Session of Congress, President Kennedy challenged Congress to put a man on the moon by the end of the decade. “I believe that this nation should commit itself to achieving the goal, before the decade is out, of landing a man on the moon and returning him safely to the Earth.” On July 20, 1969, eight years after this challenge, Neil Armstrong stepped onto the moon.

With the right leadership, the United States can rise to the challenge of being energy independent within the next few years. We need to drill for oil and natural gas. We need to mine for coal. And we need to build nuclear power plants and oil refineries.

I Want Them To Remember

Liberalism is destroying this country. The “Left“ is destroying this country. I believe the current President is changing this country into a country that is totally and fundamentally different from the United States I grew up in - and not in a good way. I believe the current elected officials have forgotten why the United States was founded and I believe some of the American people have also forgotten.

I want to remind them. I want to remind them why the United States was the strongest country in the world. I want to remind them why people were willing to risk their lives to come to the United States. I want them to remember what it means to be an American, because ladies and gentlemen they have forgotten. And because they have forgotten, the United States is very vulnerable and is at a tipping point. I want to remind Americans so the United States can be the strongest country in the world again.

There are two years to the next election. And we must make this President a one-term president. And we must change politics as usual in Washington DC. Never before have I felt so strongly about what is happening to my country and I want to help put it back on the right track.

Rising gas prices, healthcare reform, national security, illegal immigration, gun control, the Constitution, there are so many topics to cover. I have two years to convince my fellow Americans to vote the current administration out of office.
